Dr. Claudia Lampert spoke with the magazine "Gesunde Stadt [Healthy City]" of the
Wiener Gesundheitsförderung [Vienna Health Promotion] about growing up healthy in the digital world and how parents can support this.
One of the things she explains is what sense mobile phone bans make in schools – Not much as long as parents do not live by such prohibitive rules as well:
[In France, there is a mobile phone ban in schools. This idea has also spilled over into Germany. However, a ban alone does not do the trick. Parents are also asked to teach the necessary skills and to live by the example of certain behaviours. Besides, not all young people use smartphones excessively. There are also young people who develop helpful strategies for themselves, such as leaving WhatsApp groups or agreeing on certain rules about what to post."]
