Cross-Pollination in Cyberspace and the Internet Governance "Spaghetti-Ball"

Together with Wolfgang Kleinwächter (University of Aarhus), Max Senges (Google Germany) and Jörg Schweiger (DENIC), Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann has made proposals for the reform of the Internet Governance Architecture, which is currently being discussed under UN aegis. Germany and the United Arab Emirates were asked by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to collect opinions on the redesign of the "digital cooperation architectures."
 

"The "Multistakeholder Statement from Germany" reflects primarily on options to enhance mechanisms for digital cooperation in the global Internet Governance Ecosystem. It argues that in the age of cyber interdependence, not only technical devices, but also Internet-related public policy issues are interconnected. It concludes that a holistic, multidisciplinary, multilateral and multi-stakeholder approach is needed to find solutions for the emerging digital problems in a growing cyberspace. [...]"
