Social Cohesion in the MDR Broadcasting Area

Social Cohesion in the MDR Broadcasting Area

The Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) is conducting a study that will shed light on the relationship between media use and the perception of social cohesion in the MDR broadcasting area. Thus, an empirically based contribution to the discussion about the public value of MDR will be made. The HBI advises the project group of the MDR in the development of the methodological approach, in the evaluation of the collected data and in the classification of the findings into the state of research.

Against the background of the international state of research on media use and social cohesion, the Institute will provide suggestions for questions and their implementation in the survey instrument during the first phase.

In the second phase, the Institute will use the preliminary analysis as a basis for providing suggestions for more in-depth analyses as well as for the interpretation and classification of the findings and will participate in the preparation of a report on the survey.
