On 1 February 2021, the EU Commission published a comprehensive assessment of current market developments, technical approaches and regulatory trends with regard to the three topics of video-sharing platforms, media ownership and signal integrity in audio-visual media services. It analyses the situation in all EU Member States as well as the UK and includes case studies from Canada and the USA.
Dr. Stephan Dreyer provided the study's authors with country expertise for Germany.
The "Study on the implementation of the new provisions in the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD)" consists of 470 pages. It was conducted by Deloitte and SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. It can be downloaded free of charge from the
