Every year, the Chair of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schulz
at Universität Hamburg offers an introduction to US copyright law in cooperation with Harvard Law School
. Students acquire knowledge of the American legal system asynchronously through videos of lectures at Harvard Law School. There will be two face-to-face sessions
with Prof. Schulz to discuss copyright issues. The first event will take place on 3 February 2021.
At the end of the course, the participants will write a short case study with which they are to convey a current copyright case from Germany to their American colleagues. The certificate of this course is recognised by the LJPA as a foreign language certificate.
CopyrightX explores the current law of copyright; the impact of that law on art, entertainment, and industry as well as the ongoing debates concerning how the law should be reformed. Through a combination of recorded lectures, assigned readings, weekly seminars, live interactive webcasts, and online discussions, participants in the course examine and assess the ways in which the copyright system seeks to stimulate and regulate creative expression.
Please send a binding registration by 31 January 2020 to Matthias K. Klatt
