Coronavirus & COVID-19 Pandemic: Coping Strategies for Junior Researchers

Irene Broer, spokeswoman of Section B in the Leibniz PhD Network, is organising the working group "Mental Health", a webinar especially for Leibniz PhD students on how to cope with the emotional, social and work-related challenges of the Corona crisis, starting at 10:30 a.m. Three international experts will present their coping strategies from different perspectives.

For security and due to a lack of space, we will first distribute the registration link among the Leibniz PhDs. However, the webinar will be recorded and made available to the public HERE shortly.

Programme

The implications of the Coronavirus and COVID-19 outbreak is causing many junior academics to struggle with social isolation, confinement and uncertainty.
The Working Group "Mental Health" of the Leibniz PhD Network, representing around 4000 doctoral researchers in Germany, has organized a webinar to provide tools and strategies to help junior researchers cope with anxiety, motivational issues and other stressors specific to working in academia during the on-going Corona crisis.
The following three experts will share their perspectives:
  • Dr. Desiree Dickerson (Academic Mental Health & Well-Being Consultant)
  • Dr. Hendrik Huthoff (Scientific Manager of the Jena School for Microbial Communication)
  • Dr. Nicola Byrom (Lecturer in psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neurosciences at Kings College London)
Moderator: Dr. Elliot Brown (Neuroscientist, Scientific Advisor and Mental Health Advocate at Charité, Berlin
